TAKING ON A CHALLENGE!!
Two years ago the women of the cooperative set some goals and prioritized them. The goal at the top of the list was to own their own building and pass it on as a legacy to their daughters and the younger members. We have been searching for such a site ever since. A suitable building at a reasonable price has been found. Carmen showed it to me earlier this month and I got really excited.
We have now launched a capital campaign to help the women purchase this facility. A true challenge for the board and for our loyal supporters! But what a gift......!
The goal amount is $87,500. This includes the house, closing costs, appliances, furniture, and "sprucing up" funds plus a bit for unexpected expenses. We already have $30,500....very close to the amount needed for a down payment. We are looking for January pledges to seal the deal and permit occupancy and then we have a year to work on the balance.
